Center Activities
Within the framework of its continuous scientific activities and in response to the security and political changes taking place in the world, the Baghdad International Center for Studies and Peacebuilding held an international scientific conference at the Palestine International Hall in Baghdad under the title (Sixth Generation Wars: New Conflict Mechanisms to Destroy States and Fragment Societies), which lasted for days 21-22. /7/ 2022 The conference witnessed the presence of a group of Iraqi and Arab politicians, academics, specialists, and representatives of a number of Arab and foreign embassies in Iraq.
The conference started with reading verses from the Holy Quran, then the Iraqi national anthem was played, then an introductory film about the center was presented to the audience, which included the internal and external activities of the center.
After that, the head of the Baghdad International Center for Studies and Peacebuilding, Dr. Adnan Al-Shahmani, delivered the opening speech in which he emphasized that the study centers are the thinkers and masterminds of politics, economy and security, especially today with this kind of wars, the importance of the study centers that are concerned with thought, adding that the major countries have realized the necessity Paying attention to study centers in terms of giving priority to them, and huge potentials were allocated for them, and great horizons were opened for them.
After that, Prof. Dr. Al-Issar Farhat, Dean of the Institute of Political Sciences at the Lebanese University of Jinan, gave a speech in which she thanked the Baghdad International Center for holding the conference and added that the need has become urgent to hold such kind of scientific conferences, especially since the world is on the verge of wars that may not be familiar to us.
For his part, Professor Ali Nasser Al-Amiri, Head of the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, said that all generations of known wars did not provide anything for humanity except destruction and the collapse of states and perpetuated hate speech and extremism. On the human resource, and at the end of his speech, Al-Amiri thanked the Baghdad International Center for holding this conference, stressing the support of the Al-Nahrain Center and the National Security Adviser for the center and for such conferences.
Prof. Dr. Haider Talib Al-Emara, President of Al-Bayan University, said in his speech at the opening of the conference that it is easy to wage wars as well as demolish countries, especially with the contemporary technological development, but the difficulty lies in building peace, and he continued that the task that falls today on universities, research centers, official institutions and others The official responsibility is to bear the responsibility before the Iraqi society in particular and the international community in general.
After that, a member of the Baghdad International Center, Professor Dr. Batool Hussein, a member of the scientific committee of the conference, delivered the speech of the committee in which she said that the war is described as a continuation of politics, but with other tools to achieve a specific goal, which is to force the enemy to obey the will of the state that wages war and impose peace according to the will of the victor, adding that this conference It aims to research the most important developments that occurred in the generations of wars, according to their strategies and their various effects.
Then the first session of the conference was held, which focused on (Generations of War: Conceptual and Operational Development), and it was chaired by Prof. Dr. Israa Sharif Jeejan, and the rapporteur was Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Kazem, and Prof. Dr. Riyad Mahdi Kazem from the Faculty of Political Science – Al-Nahrain University participated in it with his research paper (International competition for the armament of outer space and its future repercussions on international security). After that, he read a.M. Dr. Ali Hussein Hamid from the College of Political Sciences – Al-Nahrain University, his research paper (Reinforcing War, “The Structure of the Relationship between the Phenomenon of War and the Global Strategic Environment”) And the role of marches in it is “Yemen as a model”)
Then the second session was held, whose axis was a continuation of the axis of the first session, and it was chaired by Prof. Dr. Riyad Mahdi Abdel-Kazim and the session rapporteur, M. Muqdam Jaber, where the session began with the paper of Prof. Dr. Anam Abdel-Ridha Sultan from the College of Information – University of Baghdad
The research entitled (Employment of cyber wars in developing the concept of power for major powers) was followed by the research paper of Assistant Professor Basma Khalil Namiq from the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad entitled (The New Generation of Wars: Concepts and the Problem of Balancing between Security and Freedom: A Conceptual Study) Then he read M. D. Zaman Majed Odeh from the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad, her research paper tagged (smart weapons and global security, “a study of current and expected risks”). Strategies of the active forces in the international system) Then this was followed by a reading of M. Ahmed Abbas Fadel from the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad for his research paper tagged (fourth generation wars). With this paper, the work of the first day of the conference was concluded.
The work of the second day began in its first session, which focused on (the dimensions and effects of the sixth generation wars). The session chair was: Prof. Al-Yassar Farhat, Dean of the Institute of Political Science at Jinan University, and the session rapporteur: Dr. Abeer Muhammad Abd, where Prof. Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim read From the College of Political Science – University of Mosul, his research paper was tagged (The use of cyber power in the policies of the major powers). Then Prof. Dr. Ali Tariq Al-Zubaidi from the College of Administration and Economics – Iraqi University read his paper entitled (The Impact of Sixth Generation Wars on the Future of International Relations) The role of the teacher, dr.Heba Naseer Abdul Razzaq from the College of Political Science – Al-Mustansiriya University with her research paper (Artificial Intelligence: Threats of the Twenty-First Century “DARPA Agency as a Model”) After that, the researcher Walid Khaled Kazem read his paper, which was entitled (The Future of Sixth Generation Wars: Challenges and Defense Methods)
After a short break, the second session was held for the second day, which was focused on (future conflicts and wars in the twenty-first century). The University of Baghdad research paper entitled (Monitoring the Transfer of Military Technology to the Islamic World) After that, Prof. Dr. Iyad Abdul Karim Majeed from the College of Law and Political Sciences – University of Kirkuk read his paper entitled (Electronic Wars and the Future of Conflicts in the Twenty-First Century), then Dr. Arad Muhammad Malik read From the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad and her research paper (The development of drone technology in light of future wars).
After the lunch break, the third and final session was held in the conference, which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdou Mukhtar Musa from Omdurman University in Sudan, and the rapporteur was Dr. Heba Naseer Abdel Razzaq, whose focus was (Ways to preserve and strengthen national security in light of the sixth generation wars), where the session began with a reading Prof. Dr. Azhar Abdullah Hassan from the College of Law and Political Sciences – University of Kirkuk for her research paper entitled (The Constant and the Variable in Generations of Wars and Their Repercussions on National Security) Then Prof. Dr. Saad Obaid Al-Saeedi from the College of Political Sciences – University of Baghdad read his research paper (The Evolution of Tools Modern wars and their impact on the national security of states: Sixth generation wars as a model). Dr. Kamal Hussein Adham from the College of Political Science – Tikrit University, his research paper (The Nature of Sixth Generation Weapons on the State and Ways of Defense).
At the end of the conference, the Director of the Baghdad International Center for Studies and Peacebuilding, Prof. Dr. Hussein Muzher Khalaf, read the final statement of the conference, in which he said that the scientific ideas and visions put forward by the researchers related to the subject of the conference have created important scientific foundations for the subject, and these foundations represent a distinguished beginning for in-depth research. In the sixth generation wars, in terms of the mechanisms, effects and problems that characterize these wars. He added that the psychological, cultural, religious, media and informational wars are the most prominent forms of the sixth generation of wars. One of the most important strategies of the sixth generation wars is its focus on (occupying minds, not land).
